About Sacred Fire
In times of challenge and uncertainty, Fire’s medicine helps people find connection, courage and life purpose.
Sacred Fire is a global network of initiated Firekeepers, teachers and guides
who help people experience the benefits of Fire’s healing presence in the world.
Anthropologists say the first human use of fire was at least 800,000 years ago. For the ancestors of our ancestors, opening this relationship was the defining spark in human awareness. Since those ancient times, Fire has been experienced as the energy of Heart—both individually and communally—holding our deepest knowing, wisdom, and the awakening connection to who we are, to each other, and to the greater world.
In these times of uncertainty and rapid change, it is common to feel increasingly disconnected from ourselves, each other, and the world. As the energy of transformation, Fire is a primordial healing presence for all of us. In the natural world Fire burns away deadwood and decay, allowing forests to be reborn into lushness. Likewise, our hearts long to burn away fear and worn-out patterns, allowing us a fresh start to rebuild life-sustaining connections.

Sacred Fire transforms lives through the gift of Fire.
We train, initiate and support an international community of Firekeepers who host monthly fire gatherings open to all. These fires help people reconnect to themselves, each other, and the natural world in order to live lives of relationships, awareness, and purpose—not only for themselves but for humanity. Through the shared experience of the influence of Fire as a source of wisdom and transformation, people can achieve the balance they seek amid the challenges of today’s world.
For everyone’s ancestors, fire was the emotional and spiritual center of community where people came together to refocus, renew, and connect with each other and the world around them. Today, many of us have lost this center and as a result, we seek solutions to modern problems without addressing the root of these problems: disconnection of heart, mind, and spirit.
Our vision is of a world where people from all walks of life regularly gather around the light and transformative warmth of Fire to connect, heal, work through conflicts, and renew their sense of purpose. In this world, people move through life’s cycles with courage, dignity, and learning—a path that gives birth to deep wisdom as they age.
Community Sacred Fires offer an inclusive space where all people—regardless of beliefs, tradition, political persuasion, or walk of life—can gather in an atmosphere of genuine respect to experience the gifts of Fire and community. We host community fires in countries around the world, including Australia, Canada, Colombia, Ireland, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Find your fire here.
Sacred Fire LifeWays programs provide support and practical approaches to help us move through the phases and transitions that we experience in our lives. Human societies throughout history matured through life stages supported by teachings on how to move with the changes, ceremonies and practices to help align with the natural world, and initiations that catalyze major life transitions, such as from childhood to adulthood.
Through online and in-person programs, workshops, webcasts, and ceremonies, LifeWays helps people experience the wisdom and gifts of each phase of life.
At Fire Speaks events, traditional healer Don David Wiley allows his body to be used as a conduit by the spirit of Fire to converse with those in attendance. This may seem somewhat strange or even impossible, but this is a role that is recognized and respected in many traditional cultures. Fire Speaks provides a rare opportunity to receive counsel from the spirit of Fire directly. Many have found these audiences to be fun and heartfelt, giving rise to powerful and enduring effects on their lives.
Sacred Fire Outreach “Sparks” initiatives are “Bringing Fire to the People” through publications like The Fire Practice Primer, and through online content like Grandfather Fire’s Wisdom. For those unable to attend our regular community fires, Outreach also offers international online fire circles, Kindling the Heart. Through this work we spread inclusion, respect for the natural world, and the healing wisdom that comes from humanity’s deeper connection with Fire.
